I was fortunate to live and study in Monterey in it’s peak prosperity era - the end of the 80’s. Gorby did the right thing, Ronnie didn’t disappoint - back then it seemed like the good times would roll forever.

I always thought of it as an island - not a peninsula. Treasure Island to be exact - with rough waters, rocky shores and Hispaniola turning the corner, leaning against the wind…

First time I set my foot on the treasure island I knew it had magic powers. Endless reserve of natural beauty converted into energy so strong it could heal any heartache and any disease. Tapping into it was simple, almost effortless – rent a convertible at SFO, drop the top down - and just go, past the sand dunes, cypress trees and the surf – straight into the sunset…

I’ve been trying to capture its beauty ever since - coming back again and again. It eluded me most of the time… but not always. I lived it, I learned the secrets, I waited for the moment and I got lucky more than once.
